March has been a whirlwind of events. My By Request Only show at Bertofino’s on the 12th was a blast. The audience chose some amazing songs for me to sing. I knew it was going to be a great evening when the first song that was chosen was “Memories” from Cats followed by “Wind Beneath My Wings.” It was obvious that we had a very romantic crowd. The evening was filled with some of the most beautiful love songs ever written. We all had such a good time that no one wanted to leave including myself. The Rotary Club’s Key Biscayne Art Festival on March 19th was a huge success this year. Besides appreciating the fabulous art that was on display, everyone really enjoyed the addition of the new Happy Hour which had discounted drinks and entertainment. I was honored to be invited as this year’s entertainer.
For those of you who have been asking me about my Spanish album, I am happy to report that it is at the manufacturing plant and we will be receiving them soon. I can’t wait to share it with everyone! You should know by now that I can’t keep away from the recording studio. If you have been following me on Facebook, you might have read that I have been there a few times already working on my new project.
This month you will have the opportunity to see me at three different places starting off at Bertofino’s on April 9th where we celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month. I will at the Key Biscayne Village Green on April 15th from 8-9 p.m. in support of Relay for Life. The last show of the season will be the following night, April 16th, at Mariposa.
As we swing into Spring, I hope you enjoy the many holidays that April brings and look forward to catching up with you next month.
Lots of Love and Smiles,
Sylvia

Is it March already? I have been so busy with all my projects that the time has flown by. The Valentine’s Day weekend shows at Mariposa in Neiman Marcus were extraordinary! I was very moved by the audience response to my favorite subject: LOVE. I was especially touched by the audience’s reaction when I sang the Spanish song “Por Ti” that I co-wrote for my husband. It is now one of my favorite songs in my upcoming CD Sonrie which, by the way, is now in production. At my February 19th performance at Bertofino’s, we added multimedia to the Sentimental Journey show honoring my mentor Lionel Hampton. We incorporated segments of The Lady and The Legend Show for our first two songs. I also received the hard copy of The Best of Sylvia Bennett that was officially released in South East Asia. Click here to view it.
The March 12th performance at Bertofino’s titled “By Request Only” is going to be very unique. The audience will be selecting their favorite songs and I will randomly pick songs from each table. This is the only show that I can’t rehearse for and will be just as surprised as everyone as to what I’ll be singing that night. On March 19th, the Rotary Club will be sponsoring the Art Festival at Key Biscayne. There are great exhibits, food and atmosphere. I will be performing between 5-7 p.m. in the main Rotary tent where the soft beverages and wine are sold. There will also be DJ music and room for dancing in between my sets and many of the artists will be in attendance. If you haven’t been to this art festival before, I encourage you to come.
I look forward to seeing you all!
Lots of Love and Smiles,
Sylvia

February 2011
My performance season is in full swing! Besides doing my Cabaret Show at Mariposa, I was very happy to gain an unexpected fan in 8 year old Venetia. While I was doing my sound check, she was coming into Mariposa to celebrate her birthday with her family. It was too early for them to stay for the 9 o’clock show so I decided to give her an impromptu private concert. It was amazing to see how someone so young could enjoy my kind of music. It was a memorable evening for both of us. At Bertofino’s, I performed my Signature Show featuring the music from all my CDs. This was also a special moment for me because I introduced a few songs from my upcoming album Sonríe. I was touched by the passionate reaction of the crowd!
On the recording side, January 28th was the official release date for The Best of Sylvia Bennett. As I have mentioned before, this CD is being distributed in Southeast Asia. We continue to receive offers from that area for my songs to be included in various artists’ compilations. It just amazes me that my music is being enjoyed by people on the other side of the world. Finally, my Spanish album Sonríe has been complete by Hal S. Batt, my producer, and is now ready to be mastered.
I look forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day with you at my upcoming weekend series at Mariposa. We have three shows scheduled: February 11, 12 and 14. This is the perfect romantic place to bring your Valentine. For those of you who can’t make it that weekend, take a Sentimental Journey with me at Bertofino’s on February 19th.
I wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day!
Lots of Love and Smiles,
Sylvia

I can’t believe it’s the beginning of the New Year already; 2010 went by so quickly. Even though we love to travel, I was so happy to come back to Key Biscayne and was thrilled to do my Christmas show on December 11 at Bertofino’s. I also had the honor that same day to perform at the Coral Gables Music Club luncheon at the Riviera Country Club. The Coral Gables Music Club raises money for scholarships for deserving young musicians and it was wonderful to be a part of that process.
On the music front, I am thrilled that Smile is doing very well in the United States and Japan has ordered more copies of this CD as well as Songs From the Heart. Also, I am excited that a compilation record titled The Best of Sylvia Bennett will be distributed throughout Southeast Asia.
It’s been hard getting any work done because of the holidays. We spent Christmas in Jupiter and Gainesville and brought in the New Year in Palm Beach. The holidays are always so special to me because it is a time to celebrate and appreciate the beautiful gifts of friendship and family and all of the blessings in our lives. It is also a perfect time to give thanks to all of you for your support and friendship this past year. I want to wish everyone a healthy and Happy New Year!
Lots of Smiles,
Sylvia

I am finally home! I bring a lot of memories back with me. I experienced extreme joy attending my dear friends’ wedding and having the honor of being asked to sing their first dance. After Arizona we went to one of our favorite Hawaiian Islands: Kauai. This is one of the oldest islands and is known as the Garden Isle. It’s the least developed and that is what makes it so special. We finally kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed the beaches. Unfortunately, during this time I also experienced the extreme sadness of losing a dear friend. I was asked to sing at his Celebration of Life service. It amazes me how music can bring happiness and comfort at the same time and that my voice is a gift that I can share in both happy and sad occasions.
Since I returned from our vacation, I’m happily rehearsing for my two Christmas performances on December 11th. During the day, I’ll be at a luncheon at the Riviera Country Club and in the evening I’ll be at Bertofino’s. As soon as I’m done with these performances, I have to start rehearsing for my next two shows: Come to the Cabaret on January 8th at Mariposa at Neiman-Marcus and the Sylvia Bennett Signature Show on January 15th at Bertofino’s. I am excited to begin my South Florida performance schedule again.
I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy Holiday season.
Lots of Smiles,
Sylvia

November 2010
We had a whirlwind travel schedule in October. It was hard to leave Carmel but we enjoyed the next leg of our trip so much that Carmel became a great memory. We drove down Highway One and stayed overnight in Santa Barbara before reaching our final destination in California: New Port Beach. We enjoyed being tourists walking the beaches, eating at great restaurants and doing a lot of window shopping. We basically did a lot of relaxing and took advantage when it was raining to watch the baseball playoffs. It was then off to Dallas where dear friends invited us to a birthday party at a Honky Tonk. I really enjoyed this new experience. Our next stop was Blowing Rock, North Carolina where we were able to see the changing of the leaves and beautiful fall colors at their peak. I sure have missed this since leaving Philadelphia. We then went on to Chicago where my husband attended an Ophthalmology meeting. While he was working, I was able to tour the city with another very good friend. It was fantastic to experience the excitement of a big city again. After spending several days in Chicago, we then went to Scottsdale, Arizona where we did a lot of hiking, played golf and watched more baseball playoffs.
While I’m gallivanting around the country, my producer Hal Batt, has been completing my Spanish album. We are three songs away from finishing the project. At this point, my job is to listen to the songs and try to put them in the order that works best for the CD. Smile is still being added to radio stations around the country. We are still exploring other performance venues for the upcoming season. We are gearing up for the holidays and I’m looking forward to my Christmas show at Bertofino’s on December 11th.
I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and look forward to sharing more with you next month.
Lots of Smiles,
Sylvia

We have left Carmel and we are taking with us many wonderful memories. We had two sold-out dinner shows at Bistro 211. I felt so fulfilled because it seemed that everyone left with a little bit of romance in their hearts including myself! We traveled to Pleasanton where I performed at the grand opening of Nonni’s Bistro. I was really happy to perform out here in California. It added to an already great year celebrating the release of Smile. In addition to performing, I was able to spend a lot of time with my friends both old and new. Some of the highlights are the 16th Annual Chili Cook-off in Carmel Valley (It was really hard to vote for the best one because they were all fabulous!) and I got to perfect my golf game.
During this time, we have been working on updating the website. I partnered with Smooth Creative Services, SmoothJazz.com’s artist branding division to create a luxurious new look. It is up and running and I would love for you to check it out: SylviaBennett.com.
We are officially on the road again. Our first stop is New Port Beach, California. After that we will be traveling to many places across the country. I look forward to sharing my adventures with you next time.
Lots of Smiles,
Sylvia

I'm happy to be in beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea. We went to the annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance with friends that visited from Gainesville, Florida. Even if you are not a car enthusiast you can't help but be blown away by the beauty of these classic cars.
I am so excited that we are continuing to get radio adds and interviews throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. I've done a few interviews which I have posted on my Facebook page. If you haven't become a fan yet, here's the link to it:

It was wonderful sharing my Smile album with the West Coast. The show at Bistro 211 was a night that was more special than I expected, not just because of Smile, but because we brought something new and different to the Carmel area with our supper club show. It was wonderful to see the audience enjoy the concept of a great dinner and a show. If you missed it, you will have another opportunity at the September 15th show featuring songs from my CD Songs From the Heart. I'm also excited to be doing a special performance at the grand opening of Nonni's Bistro in Pleasanton, California on September 24.
Until next month.
Lots of Smiles,
Sylvia
