The Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance Classic Car show is on a Sunday but the festivities officially start on Thursday with the Tour D'Elegance where the classic cars parade around the Monterey Peninsula by going to Big Sur, back through Carmel, and then returning to Pebble Beach. The Concorso Italiano features almost one thousand cars of Italian origin. If you like Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Maseratis, this is definitely the place for you to visit. This is a great time to be in Carmel. There are people from all over the world that come to see all these magnificent cars and we are lucky to be among them.
The beautiful Italian sports cars are arranged by class and year on the Laguna Seca Golf Course. The cars are predominately the red Ferraris followed by the bold and bright colored Lamborghinis. Even if you aren't a car enthusiast, you become one after you are able to get up close and personal to these magnificent vehicles.
The main event is spending all day Sunday at the Concours D'Elegance located on the 18th hole of the
Pebble Beach Golf Course. There are over 200 cars exhibited from all over the world and some of them are more than a 100 years old. They are judged in their respective classes and awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes based on their beauty, elegance and restoration. The Best of Show is awarded to one of the first place winners.
One of the highlights of the weekend was that we were able to test drive the new all-electric Tesla sedan. The automobile is stunning and it rides like a luxury sports car. It also has an amazing pick up. It's hard though to get used to the lack of engine noise. One of the features that I fell in love with was that we could program our own station by requesting an artist. My friends chose Sylvia Bennett and my songs started playing. This picture shows you what it looked like.
